The NHS has paid out more than 200,000 in compensation to women who have become pregnant or been injured by a contraceptive implant that is growing in popularity, Channel 4 News reveals.

Hundreds of women have become pregnant after a long-term contraceptive implant failed to be properly inserted, the government's drugs and medical devices watchdog said on Wednesday.

584 pregnancies despite implant
Nearly 600 women have become pregnant in the past 11 years despite using the popular contraceptive implant, Implanon, a health watchdog confirms.
