ATLANTA----CDC Software: WHAT: The Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act went into effect on January 1st, 2006 requiring food processors to identify, in plain, common language, the presence of any of the eight major food allergens: milk, egg, peanut, tree nut, fish, shellfish, wheat, and soy.
